During the golden era of hip-hop music, the 90s provided some of the best musical artists around. This era also brought a different flavor to skateboard videos and the skateboard industry. In a world of sweeping coasting down the street, heavy bowl and ramp skating in the late 80s, hip-hop in the 90s found its coalescence with the technical and mind-blowing trick skateboarding that we see today. Hip-hop music hit the streets, and so did skateboarding, and along with it, artists from around the world took their art off the walls and brought it to the concrete.
Kamagraph Skateboards presented over 30 hip-hop-inspired skateboards painted by a select curation of artists. This unique art show was held at Tumbleroot with three DJs (Dynamite Sol, Shobanon, Ride) who took attendees on a journey through 90s and early 2000s hip-hop. Select decks included references to 2Pac, Missy Elliot, the Bronx, and more. All skateboards were available for sale at Tumbleroot beginning at 7 pm, with DJs spinning from 9 pm onwards.
All were welcome to attend the free event, whether they appreciated the Golden Era or wanted to experience it live.
